Curriculum

At Combe, we have started on a journey to rediscover engagement with learning and make the curriculum as rich and broad as possible. To this end, after lots of planning, mistakes and successes, we have introduced a new curriculum ethos called Curiosity, Creativity and Challenge (CCC). All the Statutory requirements are met through a global (we are a practicing Global Learning school, current affairs starting point that captures the children's curiosity. A curriculum is planned that challenges the children's preconceptions, limits and comfort zones. Then with a creativity that includes outdoor learning and trips and visitors, we explore and learn!

Alongside this, the children are building resilience and leadership skills that will help prepare them for Life.

is at the heart of all learning. It gives the children the power to self learn and explore. To this end, reading is taught daily either through phonics, sight vocabulary, spelling rules and reading to others. Not forgetting hearing adults read to them! Parents are actively involved in reading at home and this is the first priority on the homework policy.
